Best belay jacket ever!

"The Black Diamond Women’s Mission Down 4000M Parka is incredibly warm and perfect for very cold conditions. The jacket provides serious insulation, and the oversized fit works great over layers during belays or transitions. I also like the helmet-compatible hood and large pockets — super practical in the mountains. Warm, functional, and built for real alpine use."

Gorgeous color

"Gorgeous color. Wish the neck was a little tighter but it’s nice when you have a thicker neckie on or a hood on whatever uou’re wearing. Warm. Love the inside pockets, distributes weight well and keeps your phone warm so it doesn’t die."

Alaina R. (5/5)

Bomb jacket

"I got this thinking it’d be similar to the Patagonia fitz Roy. Guys this is better and it’s even a little longer for me at least. I am 5’1” 115lbs and snagged the xs and it covers my booty. So cozy and warm for where I live high in the Rockies."

Good design, but fails execution

"There’s a lot I like about this parka, but the downsides mean I’m still looking for something better. Within the first few weeks, the shell fabric started to fray. This shell material is like wearing a wool sweater in a freezing wind storm, in that the wind flows right through it to your skin. I’ve been wearing this parka with thick layers underneath that are not meant to be wind proof and this jacket doesn’t complete any sort of windproof layer for you. What I really is the two outer upper zippered pockets. Those are critical for things I need to grab right away or stash quickly. The length is helpful for warmth. The hood is too loose in wind, it really needs a way to cinch down the circle of material around your face. I like the size of it, but it needs a cinch for the front fabric. I’ve been wearing this park every day for the last month in everything from subzero to 30° F, no wind to high winds, snow and hail. It’s definitely not an 8000 m and isn’t designed to be, but I really hope that BD makes a better version of this with a more burly shell material that is windproof with high friction patches on shoulders and cuffs. I keep expecting my equipment to rip a hole right through this parka when I’m carrying gear of my shoulder. ."

Happy with size (M)

"I'm 5'9, 140 lbs, female, and bought the women's medium size. I like the M size, as there is plenty of room to fit more layers under, or a cinch at the waist if I am not wearing a lot of layers. I bought this for an ice climbing trip to AK, but have not yet truly tested out how well it does in the cold. Love the color, hope it keeps me nice and warm up north :)"

Great jacket!

"Super cute and very warm! Kept me warm through -40 Alaska temps!"

Allison H. (5/5)

Great for the cold

"Got this for my girlfriend for the winter and she hasn’t taken it off. Great for people who run cold, good fit, and tough materials to hold up to some abuse while scrambling around Utah."

Nate R. (5/5)

Solid piece

"Keeps you warm for sure, even on the summits in the winter Tetons. Its a great cut/fit, even with a helmet on under the hood. Plenty of large pockets too."

Michael W. (5/5)

On point

"I have yet to have a piece of BD kit that was dissatisfied with. Always on point."
